Ma vie à Hong Kong

Went cat-sitting for a week end last week...It all went well until Sunday night when one of the cat decided to play me a bad trick...

The dark-grey cat decided (after he finished his dinner) to hide but miaowed just before...I've been calling (and even begging) him and looking for him in the whole for 15 minutes and started to freak out cause I couldn't find him. One of the widows was open and I even thought that he may have jumped through it...

After I called my friend for help, the cat showed up...He was sitting close to the table and confidentally stared at me!

Those little cute pets really have good ability to drive you mad :)

PS: Of course, while I was searching for the dark-grey cat, the small one wanted to play with me and kept grabbing my legs...

For those who are regularly reading my blog, I sincerely apologize for not sharing new stories for (I think) more than 2 weeks...For the others, they wouldn't have noticed anyway...

On saturday, went hiking in Sai Kung (check the pictures)...13.5km in 4h20min! Quite a performance given the fact that the trail was suppose to last 5 hours but I was in company of "professional" hikers who were racing! The first 30 min were still ok, the following 30 min were more challenging (steep slope) and I was almost dying! Had time and energy to take picture during the first half of the trail but exhaustion quickly gained me so you will 'only' enjoy a few pictures of the beautiful landscape we can find in Sai Kung (for those who wonder whether I went to swim, the answer is "no it was too cold")

Tout d'abord, toutes mes excuses pour ceux et celles qui me lisent régulièrement puisque cela fait maintenant presque 2 semaines que je n'ai rien posté! Pour les autres, ils n'y verront que du feux ;p

Samedi dernier, je suis partie faire de la rando (cf. album photo): 13,5km en 4h20! Plutôt une "perf" sachant qu'elle était censée durer 5h et que j'étais le boulet que traînaient les pro de la rando! J'ai plutôt bien assurée la première demi heure, la seconde était déjà plus compliquée (pente ardue) et j'ai faillit y rester! J'ai quand même eu le courage de prendre des photos durant la première moitié du parcours mais la fatigue a vite pris le dessus...Vous n'aurez donc que quelques photos des supers paysages qu'on a eu la chance d'admirer (ou plutôt de passer à côté) - pour les curieux, je ne me suis pas baignée car il faisait trop froid.

I've been lazy this week end...Went to Macau on Saturday (check pictures in the Dragon Year album) to catch-up with a friend met in Rennes (but who lives in the UK) and today I fully woke-up around 3pm :-) Had some appointment in Central and then went to buy my first apple computer: the mac book air 13" (my early b-day gift to myself...).

I've just tried Facetime (and did not have all the problems linked to Skype) and I'm glad! I'll spend the next couple of days (weeks) to fully explore what this machine offers...

Je viens de passé un week-end en mode "loque humaine"...Samedi, je suis partie à Macao (j'ai bien sûr pris quelques photos des déco du nouvel an chinois) pour rendre visite à un ami rencontré à Rennes (et qui vit habituellement au UK) et aujourd'hui je me suis levée (complètement) vers 15h pour aller faire des petites courses sur Central et m'acheter mon premier ordinateur apple : le mac book air 13" (petit cadeau d'anniversaire que je m'offre en avance).

Je viens de tester Facetime (et je n'ai pas eu de problème, contrairement à ce que je rencontre avec Skype) et je suis ravie! Je vais maintenant passer les prochains jours (semaines) à voir ce que ce petit bijoux offre...

First Chinese new year far from family and friends...Was very weird to me and it seems like the dragon year is not good for dog-sign people (my chinese zodiac is dog...)! I wanted to post nice pictures but it's been rainy, windy and chilly so you'll have to wait ;p

I can only share this picture with you...You can see those plants everywhere (streets, building, shops, etc.) in HK during CNY...I would love to buy one and bring it back to France but 1) it is too heavy and 2) it would be too expensive!

Anyway, happy dragon year to you all!

PS: CNY in HK sucks, not much to do :(

Premier nouvel an chinois passé loin de la famille et des amis...Très bizarre! Je commence à croire que l'année du dragon n'est pas une bonne année pour les chiens (je suis bien sûre chien...). Je voulais partager de belles photos du nouvel an chinois mais il a plu, il y avait du vent et il faisait frais pendant 3 jours!

Je partage donc la seule photo potable que j'ai...On voit ces petits arbres partout à HK en ce moment (boutiques, immeubles, rues, etc.) et je les trouve tellement beaux que j'en rapporterai bien un en France mais ce serait trop lourd et trop cher :(

PS: Y'a pas grand chose à faire pendant le nouvel an chinois ici...C'est assez nul!

Just dropping a few lines to wish you a happy new year 2012!

As some of you already knew, I flew back to France for X-mas and New Year. It was such a nice time with family & friends! Of courses, I did not manage to see everyone...On my flight back to HK (last sunday), I accepted to changed seats to be a nice girl but I shouldn't have! I inherited a seat with 2 kids behind me (not that I don't like kids, don't get me wrong!) who could not sleep nor keep quiet. One of them spent his time kicking the back of MY seat...12 hour-flight like this!!!! And of course, I had to work after I landed...

Anyway, feeling lonely in this city!

Comme certains d'entre vous me l'ont fait remarquer (je ne citerai pas de noms, ils se reconnaîtront!), je n'ai pas posté de message depuis un certain temps...Je me rattrape donc en vous souhaitant une très bonne année 2012! Je prends la bonne résolution de partager un peu plus d'histoires sur ce blog :)

Bon sinon j'étais contente de revenir en France et d'avoir pu revoir la majorité d'entre vous! Ces deux semaines ont été très reposantes et la reprise est plutôt difficile (sans compter le coup de blues du retour...). Sur le vol pour HK, j'ai fait ma BA (sûrement la seule vu la récompense!) en acceptant de changer de place (dans une rangée de 2 pour une rangée de 3 = moins de place!). Je me suis retrouver devant des enfants qui n'ont ni dormi ni été calme...Je vous laisse imaginer le calvaire d'avoir un gosse qui tape dans votre siège!

Arrived in Beijing yesterday morning...I almost faint when I heard the ambiant temparature: -8°C

Today, I spent over 4 hours at the Forbidden City...It's an amazinly beuatiful palace! And it's so huge that I got lost (I can hear some of you saying it was an easy task given my orientation skills .p) but there's a goods news about that: I ended in some 'not so popular' part of the palace where I had all the space and time to admire the ceramics and Emperor's conccubines' room. Unfortunately, my camera had no more battery when I was inside the Palace but this is a good excuse for me to come back and spend the whole day in the Palace during summer time (I need to admit that I was almost frozen after those 4 hours).

I'll create a folder with my (few) pic of Beijing. Tomorrow, I plan to visit the Palace of Heaven...

PS: La version française suivra quand j'aurai mon clavier français ;p

I've been living in my compact studio for 5 months and it's only now that I realize how many good places are around...Today, I went to a dessert shop specialized in mango desserts. That's what I had today and my favourite is on the one on the top left (fresh mango, mango purée and the white balls are indescribable).

Après avoir passé 5 mois dans mon appartment, je commence à découvrir mon quartier et notamment une petite boutique de dessert où ils proposent beaucoup de chose à base de mangue. Miam miam :-) Voici ce que j'ai commandé aujourd'hui, c'était très bon et mon préféré est celui en haut à gauche (mangue fraîche, purée de mangue et les petites boules blanches, je ne sais pas comment le décrire).

Tonight, I tried a recipe from my friend Noy. Roast duck salad is not difficult to prepare but I still have a long way to walk before mastering the receipe. It tasted good but not as good as the one prepared by Noy.

Ce soir j'ai testé la recette de salade au canard rôti de Noy...Résultat: pas mal mais la route est encore longue avant d'arriver au même résultat que celui du maître...

Ladies, if you stop by HK and intend to buy cosmetics, go to the 'sample' corner of Sasa. In most of the Western countries, we tend to buy a 500 ml moisturer tube because it is cheaper than buying 2 x 250 ml tube...This does not apply to HK! It is even the opposite!!! One of my colleagues mentionned that to me and I did not believe her until I went to the store and made the calculation myself!!!! Weird isn't it? The only thing is that you can not always find a 'sample' size of every product....

A toutes les filles qui lisent ce post, qui prévoient de venir à HK et d'y acheter des produits de beauté, je vous conseille de vous orienter vers le coin 'échantillon' des boutiques Sasa. Dans les pays occidentaux, nous avons tendance à acheter un tube de 500 ml de crème car moins cher que 2 tubes de 250 ml...Et bien mauvais raisonnement quand on est à HK! Une de mes collègues m'avait dit qu'acheter des échantillons de produits revenait moins cher et je ne la croyais pas jusqu'à ce que je me rendre ne boutique et fasse les calculs moi-même...Trop bizarre non ? Bon le seul souci à ce bon plan c'est qu'on ne trouve pas toujours des tailles échantillon de tous les produits...
